Between Us Counselling gives you a safe and confidential space to reflect and explore your world, without judgement or being told what to do. Helping you take a ‘helicopter’ view of yourself, your life and your relationships, and see yourself from a perspective that no-one else can.
One-to-one talk therapy counselling is available Mondays to Fridays for adults aged 16 and over, either by online Zoom/WhatsApp video or telephone. Standard fees are £55 per 60-minute session, with discounts available for trainee counsellors.
You will always be the one who knows the most about you. So my approach is
Person-Centred Therapy.
My focus is on the person, so that together we can work towards understanding the feelings which may be feeding into behaviours. What might be considered as difficult behaviours now (hypervigilance/anxiety, low self-worth, insecure attachment and triggering etc) may have been essential to simply 'get you through' previously. Together we work at your speed, towards being gently curious and gaining a deeper understanding of you and your life. Talking therapy with Between Us Counselling aims to you bring a new perspective with self-compassion and empathy. Alongside learning how to resource and regulate yourself...it can be life changing.
Or if you are currently living through loss, having a regular hour session for someone to truly listen without judgment, can be really helpful.
We will work together to help you find ways to heal, build greater strength, improve relationships, feel happier and be more authentically yourself.
Dawn allowed me to switch from topic to topic within a session as I began to see the interconnectivity of so many things. To be allowed to explore difficulties and talk about them without being judged, and to find my own solutions not those which other people think you should do was really valuable. Online/telephone counselling sessions can be booked from Monday afternoon to Friday afternoon, with evening availability on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
As an ex-boarder myself, I have a particular interest in the effect that boarding school has had on some ex-pupils in adult life. I have received specialist training (led by Nick Duffell, a leading authority in this field) in counselling former boarders who feel impacted by their school experience. I also contributed a chapter about how sibling relationships can be affected by attending boarding school to his book entitled The Un-Making of Them: Clinical Reflections on Boarding School Syndrome (available on Amazon)
